Training Deadline Aug. 31: GS Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Training for Volunteers
Girl Scouts values the safety of our girls. The Girl Scout Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention national training is now available on gsLearn, developed in response to sexual abuse and molestation (SAM) prevention training becoming an insurance requirement for youth-serving organizations.
This is required training for all volunteers. It must be completed by Aug. 31. It takes approximately 50 minutes to complete and has been assigned to you in gsLearn. Failure to complete this training means that you will not be a volunteer for MY25.

Updated Safety Activity Checkpoints
The 2024-2026 Safety Activity Checkpoints are now available on our website. They are updated every other year by GSUSA.
The new version includes some very exciting changes for travel:
-
Juniors are now permitted to travel throughout the United States for longer trips.
-
Brownies are now approved for 2-3 nights within a 6-hour drive from home without a parent/guardian. Because Savannah is the birthplace of Girl Scouting and has many activities designed for Girl Scouts, GSCSA will approve any of our Council’s Brownies to travel specifically to Savannah for 2-3 nights without a parent.
-
Brownies with travel experience may travel for 4 nights or longer distances within the southeast if accompanied by a parent/guardian.
As a reminder, certain higher risk activities require Council pre-approval through submitting a Troop and SU Activity Approval Form. This form must be completed 2 weeks prior to the activity. Volunteers should review individual safety activity checkpoints as part of activity planning.
Join GSCSA for our Annual Meeting, Volunteer Awards Luncheon, and Continuing Education.
Join us on Sat., Aug. 17 at Rothchild Catering and Event Center (8807 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37923), for a full day of Girl Scout activities and educational opportunities. You are welcome to attend all the sessions or choose individual sessions that interest you.
Please register by Aug. 11!
