Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future
Girls have been changing the world for more than a century—and it all started with the bold vision of Girl Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low. Her belief that girls should have the freedom to explore, lead, and dream big sparked a movement that continues to empower generations.

This Women’s History Month, we celebrate the trailblazing women who paved the way and the girls who are carrying that legacy forward today. Across our council, Girl Scouts are building confidence, discovering new passions, exploring the outdoors, and making a difference in their communities.

As we honor the trailblazing women who shaped history, we’re reminded that the spirit of leadership, courage, and possibility continues to inspire the next generation. Women’s History Month is not only a time to look back at the paths that were forged, but also to celebrate the girls who will help shape what comes next—one full of possibility and promise.

Volunteer Spotlight
Rachel Declerck
Rachel Declerck
Rachel, Troop Leader and Service Unit Program Lead for Placer Gold Service Unit 142, has helped bring new energy and connection to her Girl Scout community. When Service Unit activities slowed, Rachel stepped forward to bring volunteers and girls back together. Under her leadership, the Service Unit grew from 12 troops and 40 members to 57 troops and more than 500 Girl Scouts and volunteers. She also expanded the leadership team and mentors neighboring Service Units, sharing ideas that support growth across the region. Today, thanks to Rachel’s dedication, the Service Unit is a thriving and supportive community where girls and volunteers feel welcomed, valued, and inspired.
