Join us for Women of Distinction 2023

Each year, GSSI's Women of Distinction Awards recognize two women and one business making a difference for the advancement of women in our communities. This year's luncheon will be held Friday, April 14 at 11:00 AM CDT at Venue 812 in Evansville.
We are asking every supporter of Women of Distinction to show they value leadership development programs for girls by giving a minimum gift of $25.
For every $25 you give, your name will be placed in a drawing for this year’s prize basket valued at $500, which includes:

GSSI will host the 2023 council Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 6:00 PM CDT at the Pavilion Conference Room and Terrace at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. (A virtual participation option will also be available.) A light dinner and dessert will be served.

Your voice matters and makes Girl Scouts better for everyone—so we want to hear from you! Your feedback is used to make national programs more engaging, inclusive, and hands-on, and to create new resources to support troop leaders.
In April, GSUSA will conduct the Girl Scout Voices Count national survey of Girl Scouts, parents/caregivers, and troop leaders (service unit volunteers will be surveyed in May). The surveys will go out the week of April 3. Be sure to check your email for an invitation to participate.
As a thank you, everyone who completes the survey will have a chance to win 1 of 20 $50 gift cards from GSUSA. Plus, GSSI troop leaders, girls, and parents/guardians will be entered into prize drawings—three leaders will receive a $50 prize, and four girls/parents will win $25.

Join our team as a Summer Outreach Program Facilitator!
|
|
Summer Outreach Program Facilitators provide the Girl Scout Leadership Experience by facilitating programs at schools and community organizations. This position involves leading a 1.5-hour program with a flexible schedule through the summer months, mainly in the afternoon. This role is perfect for college students or retirees!

Bridging awards mark a girl's transition from one leadership level to the next. An exciting time in a Girl Scout's life, the earning of the award and completion of the activities are designed to emphasize the continuity of one Girl Scout program and to welcome girls to an anticipated "next level." Our Bridging Kits contain everything you need to celebrate these special events!
Each kit contains a bridging award patch, certificate, membership star and disc, bridging pencil, and a bridging fun patch. (Junior and Cadette kits include Brownie Wings.) Brownies, Seniors, and Ambassadors kits are $8.00 each; Juniors and Cadettes are $9.75.

The 2023 Highest Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 6, at Venue 812 in Evansville. We will recognize the following awards at the ceremony: Gold, Silver, and Bronze, Journey Summit, Graduating Seniors, and the Top 5 Cookie Bosses. Invitations will be sent soon to all awardees.

Don't Forget Girl Scout Camps in your Summer Plans

Spring has sprung, and summer is right around the corner, which means it's almost camp time! We have a variety of programs planned, including overnights at Camp Koch and service unit day camps. Camp Koch and Spencer County Day Camp registrations are open now; all other day camps are coming soon.

UPCOMING EVENTS

INTRO TO CLIMBING AT VERTICAL EXCAPE
When: Saturday, April 15, 2023, 3:00 PM-4:30 PM CDT
Where: 1315 N Royal Ave, Evansville, IN 47715
Who: All girls grades 2-12 (Non-members are welcome.) Adults and/or troop leaders must stay with their participants to maintain the proper adult-to-girl ratio.
Cost: $14/participant
What: Join Girl Scouts as we soar to new heights while climbing at Vertical eXcape in Evansville! Participants will be greeted by staff and given a 15-minute introduction with tips on how to climb, what gear is used, and a safety briefing. The climbing session will last an hour and 15 minutes, and allow girls to use any of the 9 auto-belay climbing systems at the facility. The cost includes all climbing gear (harnesses, shoes, ropes, auto-belay systems) and orientation.

SUPERFOOD HEROES CLASS WITH UPGRADE
When: Saturday, April 15, 1:00 PM-2:30 PM CDT
Where: Ascension St. Vincent YMCA, 516 Court St, Evansville, IN 47708
Who: Daisies & Brownies
Cost: Free
What: A program of the local Upgrade initiative, SuperFood Heroes is a nutrition and taste-testing program that will change how kids think about vegetables! The SuperFood Heroes promote the nutritional benefits of 20 common veggies and legumes through fun, bite-sized facts and activities. This cooking class will focus on SuperFood Hero Polly Pinto Bean. The participants will participate in recipe preparation, fun nutrition education, and taste testing of "Kickin' Pinto Cups.”

SPENCER COUNTY DAY CAMP
When: Saturday, April 22, 9:00 AM-4:00 PM CDT
Where: Lincoln State Park
Who: All girls in grades K-12, non-Girl Scouts are welcome
Cost: $10/camper
What: All Spencer County girls entering grades K-12 in the fall are welcome to join us for a day of fun outdoors at Lincoln State Park! Activities will include letterboxing for girls in grades K-3 and geocaching for girls in grades 4-12.
