Each year, GSSI's Women of Distinction Awards recognize two women and one business making a difference for the advancement of women in our communities. All GSSI Girl Scouts and their families are invited to spring into adventure at Camp Koch! Together, explore the property and choose activities you want to participate in as a family. GSSI will organize everything for you; all you must do is show up and have fun!

Where: Camp Koch, Cannelton
Who: All Girl Scouts and their families; children must be 5 years or older to attend

Early Renewal Begins April 1
Get ready for a year of fun ahead with Girl Scouts! All girls and adults who renew between April 1-June 5, 2023, will receive a fun incentive and be entered into a drawing to win a special prize. Delegates: Save the Date for the 2023 Annual Meeting
GSSI will host the 2023 council Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 6:00 PM CDT at the Pavilion Conference Room and Terrace at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. (A virtual participation option will also be available.) A light dinner and dessert will be served.

Meeting Agenda:
  • 5:30 PM: Registration opens
  • 6:00 PM: Meeting
  • 6:30 PM: Recognitions and awards (Board Service, GSUSA & GSSI Adult Awards, Honor & Golden Honor Troops*)

Summer Outreach Program Facilitators provide the Girl Scout Leadership Experience by facilitating programs at schools and community organizations. This position involves leading a 1.5-hour program with a flexible schedule through the summer months, mainly in the afternoon. This role is perfect for college students or retirees!

The 2023 Highest Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 6, at Venue 812 in Evansville. We will recognize the following awards at the ceremony: Gold, Silver, and Bronze, Journey Summit, Graduating Seniors, and the Top 5 Cookie Bosses. Invitations will be sent soon to all awardees.

UPCOMING EVENTS
FLOWERS, BUGS, AND MORE! AT WESSELMAN WOODS
When:
Saturday, March 25, 2023, 12:00 PM-4:00 PM CDT
Where: 551 N Boeke Ave, Evansville, IN
Who: Girls in all grades (K-12) are invited to this event. You do not need to be a registered Girl Scout member to attend this event.
Cost: $6/girl
What: Have you ever wondered where bugs call home or why flowers come in all shapes and sizes? Join us at Wesselman Woods to explore more about flowers and bugs, while having a blast in the outdoors! Girls will dissect flowers, use microscopes, go on a bug hunt, and more! Brownies will complete the "bugs" badge, while Juniors will complete the "flowers" badge (badges not included in the price and must be purchased separately). Families and troops can stay on the property and explore the nature playscape, trails, and animals after the event.

INTRO TO CLIMBING AT VERTICAL EXCAPE
When:
Saturday, April 15, 2023, 3:00 PM-4:30 PM CDT
Where: 1315 N Royal Ave, Evansville, IN 47715
Who: All girls grades 2-12 (Non-members are welcome.) Adults and/or troop leaders must stay with their participants to maintain the proper adult-to-girl ratio.
Cost: $14/participant
What: Join Girl Scouts as we soar to new heights while climbing at Vertical eXcape in Evansville! Participants will be greeted by staff and given a 15-minute introduction with tips on how to climb, what gear is used, and a safety briefing. The climbing session will last an hour and 15 minutes, and allow girls to use any of the 9 auto-belay climbing systems at the facility. The cost includes all climbing gear (harnesses, shoes, ropes, auto-belay systems) and orientation.

SUPERFOOD HEROES CLASS WITH UPGRADE

Who: Daisies & Brownies
What: A program of the local Upgrade initiative, SuperFood Heroes is a nutrition and taste-testing program that will change how kids think about vegetables! The SuperFood Heroes promote the nutritional benefits of 20 common veggies and legumes through fun, bite-sized facts and activities. This cooking class will focus on SuperFood Hero Polly Pinto Bean. The participants will participate in recipe preparation, fun nutrition education, and taste testing of "Kickin' Pinto Cups.”

VU IT CLUB GIRL SCOUT TECH EVENT

Where: Vincennes University Wathon Business Bldg, 3rd floor, 1320 N 2nd St, Vincennes, IN
Who: All girls in grades 6-12
Cost: $5/Girl Scout, $10/non-member
What: Join Vincennes University instructors and students for a fun event allowing girls to learn about various STEM subjects with hands-on activities. Stations will include video game design, coding, robotics, and more!
