October 11 is International Day of the Girl
Every year on October 11, the global community joins together to celebrate International Day of the Girl, a United Nations-established day that recognizes girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world. The theme for 2024 is ‘Girls’ Vision for the Future’. On this day, Girl Scouts encourages everyone to recognize the power of girls everywhere—and to highlight, discuss, and take action to advance the rights of, and opportunities for, girls across the globe.
Celebrate International Day of the Girl with Girl Scouts by earning 2024's special patch and by participating in activities provided by Girl Scouts and WAGGGS. On October 11, choose to not only support a platform where girls can speak out, but also to share girls’ achievements, triumphs, and contributions as we build towards a brighter and more equitable future for girls everywhere!

It's also Give to Women & Girls Day
October 11 is also Give to Women and Girls Day, a national awareness campaign launched by the Women's Philanthropy Institute to increase funding for women's and girls' organizations.
At Girl Scouts, we know that every girl has the power to realize her potential and that it is important to amplify all of their voices and advocate for every girl's inclusion in changemaking spaces. By supporting and investing in girls, you can make the world a better place.

When disaster strikes, Girl Scouts can help.
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, GSUSA has approved fundraising to support those affected by the storm for the next 3 months. Girl Scouts may now raise funds through December 30, 2024, to support and help the people and communities in need. It is recommended that contributions be made to charities identified by Charity Navigator or Charity Watch. Remember, Girl Scouts must follow the money-earning guidelines for all fundraising, including submitting an application for money-earning to GSSI.
What Can a Girl Scout Do When Disaster Strikes is another resource for Girl Scouts to use that encouraged them to think about how they can help when disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, fires, and more occur. This resource goes over how Girl Scouts can lend a helping hand, educate themselves and others, prepare for the future, and how they can change their communities and the world in situations like this.
From Florida to the Carolinas, our hearts go out to all those who have been affected by Hurricane Helene, especially to our Girl Scout sisters in those affected areas. Remember that our Girl Scout family will always be there for each other and that together, we can be #GirlScoutStrong through tough times like these.
