Youth Mental Health First Aid
|
Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Please note that trainings typically have a registration deadline two weeks before the training and require a minimum number of participants to take place. Register early to save your spot and share with your volunteer friends!

October 21 is Girl Scout Day at the Arkansas State Fair. The $3 admission is sold until 5 pm to Girl Scouts and leaders. Visit Arkansas State Fair for more information about the fair.

Troop Year Plans
|
|
New this year, reference the Troop Year Planners for each level. Troop Year Planners are designed to work with matching tracks in the Volunteer Toolkit and give Girl Scouts the ability to explore all focus areas of STEM, Outdoors, Life Skills, and Entrepreneurship throughout the year. The Badges, Journeys and Awards page is a quick way to view the Badge and Award charts by level and badge categories across levels for multi-level troop planning. You can also check out the Badge Explorer to download award/badge requirements in a short, list PDF format. Need help? Reach out to your volunteer experience specialist for support!

Setting Up for Troop Success
|
|
Throughout October, we will be checking each troop in our system to make sure they are all set for the new year! This includes ensuring the troop has updated troop meeting information, two trained leaders, enough registered adults to meet girl-to-adult ratio and the minimum number of troop girls.

Is Your Troop Renewed?
|
|
The new membership year officially started on October 1. Our members deserve a full Year of Fun, so please make sure to renew memberships this month if you have not done so already. Renew your troop through your My GS account or by calling our Customer Care team at 800-632-6894 today! If your troop is disbanding, please contact your volunteer experience specialist to complete the disbandment process. Troops returning for the 2023-2024 Girl Scout year must be renewed by October 31.

Adult Recognitions Updates
|
We listened to volunteer feedback and are improving our Adult Recognition submission process for the new year! Here are some things to expect.
Presidential Volunteer Service Award will continue to be submitted via our online form. This year, we will include a response receipt so you can save a copy of your submission. This award is available for registered, Girl Scout adult volunteers. Unfortunately, PVSA guidelines have shifted, and this award will no longer be available for our youth members. Our submission deadline will be February 1.
New this year, we will be using Jotform to submit nominations and endorsements for council and GSUSA awards. It will allow an individual to submit a nomination entry and send a unique link to each endorser to complete their endorsement. This will eliminate the process of downloading and uploading nomination PDFs for submission. Link to nominations will be coming soon to our website. Deadline is April 15.
Lastly, the Service Unit President’s Award criteria will be updated for the new submission year. More details to come. Please visit the Volunteer Awards and Recognitions for more information!

Fall Product Program
|
The 2023 Fall Product Program will shortly be over! Troops can still collect online direct shipped sales through October 29. This is a great time for Girl Scouts to market online-only product lines such as magazine subscriptions, Tervis Tumblers, and the Girl Scout Mini Bark Box.

Cookie Program

The 2024 Cookie Program will be here before we know it. Troops can get a head start on setting cookie sales goals and creating plans for using cookie proceeds by getting a sneak peek at the 2024 troop cookie proceeds structure.
Base proceeds: $0.80 per package
Tiered proceeds: must reach 350+ PGA + $0.10 per package
Rewards opt-out (majority CSA troops only): +$0.10 per package
Max proceeds earnable: $1.00 per package
