Cookie Delivery is happening the week of February 5, 2024. Please make sure you know when and where you need to go for your cookie delivery.

Cookie Cupboard and Friday Cookies
|
There are five cookie cupboards throughout our council (Vanderburgh, Perry, Dubois, Knox, and Martin) that troops are welcome to go to to get more cookies. Friday Cookies will allow you to check cookies out to use for the weekend and bring back what isn’t sold. Friday Cookie orders must be placed ahead of time with the participating cupboards (the link will go live on Monday).

Cookie Booth Set Up, Etiquette, and Addressing Falsehoods
|
Cookie Booths are a huge part of the Cookie Program as they are direct sales and a great opportunity for your troop to partner with a local business. Booths are an excellent way for girls to reach higher goals, too. Review the Cookie Booth Guidelines for more details on booth set-up and etiquette. Volunteers should also review the information found in Addressing Falsehoods about Girl Scouts to be prepared to answer any questions that may arise from customers during cookie booths.

Bling Your Booth
|
The Bling Your Booth contest is back! Troops are encouraged to create a fun and unique cookie booth to showcase their artistic marketing skills. The top three vote-getting troops will win a gift certificate to the council shop! To enter, submit up to 3 photos of your booth to hminasian@girlscouts-gssi.org by Thursday, March 7, 2024. Please include your troop number as well. Voting will take place from Friday, March 8 to Wednesday, March 13, 2024, via an online form that will be shared on social media. Winners will be announced on Friday, March 15, 2024.

Volunteer Cookie Booth Math Training
|
Our facilitator, Nicole, did an excellent job at our Volunteer Cookie Booth Math Training. There is a recorded video to watch for anyone who wasn’t able to make it.
This training goes over the following: - Calculating varieties and quantities to bring to a cookie booth - Dividing booth cookies by hours worked - Counting cash and checks quickly - Keeping track of cash deposits
Nicole also included her Google Tracker Report, so volunteers will need to "Make a Copy" if wanting to use it.

|
Troop-Secured Booths
|
There are now instructions on how to set up a Troop-Secured Booth in Smart Cookies. This allows you to access the CC platform through Digital Cookies and allows your troop booth to be found on the online Cookie Finder page.
You DO NOT have to put in your lottery or first come, first serve booths. These have been automatically added to your troop reservations. If you need to cancel any of your lottery or first come, first serve booths, please make sure to let the cookie department know at cookies@girlscouts-gssi.org.

Reminder: Child Protection Guidelines and Training
|
Thank you to the volunteers who have already reviewed the new Child Protection Guidelines and completed the training! These guidelines empower staff members and volunteers to recognize, prevent, and react responsibly to all forms of child abuse, and ensure GSSI programming takes place in safe, nurturing environments that foster healthy relationship building.
It is essential that all registered volunteers, regardless of volunteer role, review these guidelines, which can be found in the GSSI Policies, Standards, Volunteer & Children Protection Guidelines, as soon as possible. GSSI is also requiring at least one co-leader per troop to complete the Indiana Department of Child Service’s online training, Don’t Wait! Make the Call, before cookies arrive on Monday, February 5. GSSI has an online form for volunteers to confirm they have reviewed GSSI’s child protection guidelines and completed the online training. Thank you for helping us make child abuse prevention a top priority!

Destinations
|
Girl Scout Destinations are the ultimate adventure for individual Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts. Push past your comfort zone by applying for a 2024-2025 trip on your own, and make friends from all over the country as you travel with new Girl Scout friends. Whether you go abroad or travel domestically, there’s a unique, life-changing experience for everyone!
GSSI is beginning to look into helping our local members experience the world with Girl Scouts again! As a council, we have not hosted a council-wide trip since pre-Covid times, and want to start providing local Girl Scouts with that opportunity once more. We have created a survey to gauge interest in planning a potential trip in the coming years, so please fill it out if you have dreams of traveling the world!
