Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians will hold its Annual Meeting on Sat., Aug. 16, at Rothchild Catering & Event Center (8807 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37923). This yearly gathering will provide updates on council business and governance decisions made by the board of directors. The Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians Annual Meeting is open to all members. Appointed Delegates will vote on the Board of Directors, Board Development Committee, and our National Delegates. Check-in begins at 9:30am. The meeting will begin promptly at 10:00am. Registration is required to attend. Please register online by Aug. 4.
Immediately following the Annual Meeting, we will celebrate our dedicated volunteers at the Volunteer Awards Luncheon. If you are not an award recipient, you may still attend to support your fellow volunteers. Tickets to the luncheon are $25 and you must register online by Aug. 4. Check-in begins at 11:00am and the luncheon is from 11:30am-1:00pm.

Product Advisory Committee – now accepting applications through Sept. 15, 2025.
|
Are you interested in shaping the Cookie and Fall Product Programs? Have ideas that could benefit our 46 counties? GSCSA is now taking applications for GSCSA’s Product Advisory Committee, better known as PAC.
The committee will consist of volunteers from each region who will partner with the council's Product Team to provide feedback, best practices, discuss potential changes within the product programs, share new ideas, and increase the girls' enjoyment while participating in product programs. Volunteers selected will meet virtually once or twice a month starting Oct. 1, 2025, and ending Sept. 30, 2027. Apply now and you may be the next voice of GSCSA’s volunteers!

Vol Resource: Supporting Families Affected by Opioid Misuse

The DEA Parent Toolkit equips you with valuable resources to help recognize the signs of opioid misuse and understand how to best support those affected. Whether it's understanding behavioral changes, providing a listening ear, or knowing where to refer families for additional help, this toolkit is an essential resource for creating a safe and supportive environment for girls. By staying informed, you can be a trusted ally in guiding families toward the right resources and ensuring the well-being of youth in your care.

Internet Safety Training - Presented by Knoxville Leadership Foundation’s Knoxville Area Mentoring Initiative in partnership with Street Hope TN

Volunteers are invited to attend this free, in-person training to learn practical internet safety strategies that help prevent child exploitation in today’s digital world. This training is ideal for caregivers, mentors, and all youth-serving adults.

Shero’s Journey Day Camp Pop-up
Are you coming to day camp at Camp Wildwood? Come visit the pop-up shop on Wed., July 16, from 2:00pm-4:30pm. We will have fun Girl Scout themed items. Cash and card accepted.
August Uniform Pop-ups
We will be hosting uniform pop-up shops for our new Girl Scouts. We will have everything you need for a starter uniform.

Heat Pressing Available
The shop offers heat pressing for a fee of $12.00 for all insignia for the front of a vest. $5.00 for 10 badges or patches anywhere else on a vest or sash.

New program offering from the Girl Scout Museum at Daisy’s Place! The museum volunteers are willing to take their programs to you. If you are a service unit or larger troop/group of girls in the greater Knoxville area, we can come to your meeting to host workshops for girls or volunteers. Would you like to learn how to sew using a sewing machine?
We are seeking Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors, and adults to join Sewing Scouts. This group will meet monthly on Saturdays beginning in August (specific dates to be determined) at the Girl Scout Leadership Center of East Tennessee. You will learn fun and useful skills! Be Seen in Your Community

Several troops from Beaver Creek Service Unit joined together to donate over 300 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to Knoxville’s Mobile Meals program. When girls delivered the cookies, they stayed to help the organization get purses ready for a September fundraising event: the Power of the Purse sale. The girls organized and sorted purses, made price tags, and also made birthday cards for mobile meals program recipients.

With a passion for fiber arts and inspiring others to discover the joy of creating with their hands, she teaches beginner-friendly classes on techniques such as Kumihimo, Dorset buttons, bobbin lace, and more.
You don’t want to miss these Braided Beauty: Introduction to Kumihimo workshops!

Learn the art of Kumihimo, a traditional Japanese braiding technique, in this beginner-friendly class. Joyce Maienschein Leadership Grant

Cadettes, Seniors, or Ambassadors who are working on a community service, take action project, or High Award can apply for a Joyce Maienschein Leadership Grant to help make their dream a reality. Not only can the girls receive funding for up to $500, but they gain life skills like writing, budgeting, organization, and teamwork. It's a win-win!
