Summer is coming to a close and the beginning of a new school year, and a new troop year, is upon us. The warm weather brought the anticipation and excitement only outdoor adventures can bring, but now it’s time for new experiences, new friendships, and best of all, making new, amazing memories.
So how do you make this year as memorable as the last? Explore hundreds of badges, awards, service projects, and experiences in the Girl Scout Activity Zone to find ideas for your troop’s next adventure. Sample a full assortment of Girl Scout tested and approved activities that cover everything from building a robot, to helping animals, staying fit, or starting a business. Your options are limitless.
If you are a troop leader, check out the Troop Year plans to find ideas for your Girl Scouts. Our age-appropriate troop year plans are the best tool for troop leaders to get started without getting overwhelmed. The entire year is mapped out—just follow along to help your troop complete badge activities, improve their communities, and explore the world around them.
Don’t forget, by taking your troop through one of the three distinct membership renewal rewards pathways—Adventure, Discovery, or Friendship Pathway—Girl Scouts can make new friends, explore exciting challenges, and plan all new adventures all year long!

Meet Mari! She is our council’s GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship recipient for 2023! The GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship is awarded each year to one outstanding Gold Award Girl Scout from each council who has shown extraordinary leadership to promote lasting change in their community and beyond.
Mari’s Gold Award Project focused on wildfire burn scars in the Sierra Foothills and the impact invasive plant species have on the natural ecosystem in these areas. She was able to educate others about both native and invasive plant species while also developing a user-friendly website with care information. Her Native Plant Party event helped her audience become environmental stewards by harvesting seeds in the wild, cultivating native plants, and removing invasive ones. With help, Mari was able to clear out 90 acres of trails at the Traylor Ranch Nature Preserve as well as on local properties.
Congratulations, Mari! We can’t wait to see what more you’ll achieve!

Introducing Jennifer Stidman, an incredible individual who wears multiple hats with grace and passion! As a Girl Scout Troop Leader, devoted mom, and Service Unit Program Lead, Jennifer’s commitment to the Girl Scouts and her community is truly inspiring.
Having been a Girl Scout herself in her younger years, Jennifer’s dedication to the organization was reignited when her daughter became a Brownie. Jennifer took on an additional role within the Service Unit Team this past year. Her vision was clear: to enhance the Girl Scout experience by organizing more events, especially some tailored to older girls.
When it comes to Girl Scouts, Jennifer’s zest for adventure shines through. Her favorite part of being involved in the organization is attending WOW events, where she gets to connect with fellow Girl Scout leaders and exchange ideas. Jennifer’s genuine enthusiasm for camping and hiking further amplifies her dedication to providing enriching experiences for her troop.
Jennifer, keep rocking your role, and may your enthusiasm continue to inspire those around you!
