Dear GSHCC Volunteers,
I recently had the privilege of celebrating more than 170 Girl Scouts as the council honored their monumental achievement of earning a Highest Award. Every year I am in awe of what these Girl Scouts set out to accomplish and this year was no exception. Whether it’s shining a light on STEM careers, advocating for the restoration of our natural environment, or creating access to ensure equitable treatment for all, our Highest Award Girl Scouts certainly made their mark.
The pursuit of a Highest Award can have a lasting impact not just on the Girl Scout personally, but on the myriad of volunteers who have played a role throughout the entire journey. A significant moment of our Highest Awards ceremony this year was the pinning ceremony itself. Our awardees brought with them a special individual who played a role in making their project dreams a reality. Standing beside each Highest Award Girl Scout was a troop leader, mentor, and volunteer. It is in moments like these that we truly feel the impact of what our volunteers bring to the mission of Girl Scouting.
It is because of our volunteers that Girl Scouts receive the encouragement and support needed to successfully embark on their Highest Award journey. It is our volunteers who share their own experience and knowledge, reminding Girl Scouts of all they have accomplished and everything they are capable of achieving.
I want to thank you for all you have done to support our Highest Award Girl Scouts over the years. For those of you working with younger troops, who are just beginning their adventures, I want to thank you for all you are doing now to lay the foundation for your Girl Scout’s future pursuit of the Highest Awards.
As a Girl Scout volunteer, you help build girls of courage, confidence, and character. I hope you know how grateful we are for the countless hours you pour into the Movement, encouraging girls to dream big, to explore, to become the leaders they want to be, and for inspiring these young women to achieve everything they put their mind’s to. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being such an integral part of their journey.
