Fall Product Mascots: Olive & Ophelia
|
|
You have met Olive, the ocelot that goes to our top Fall Product Entrepreneur! But there’s a chance for one Girl Scout to earn a second ocelot – her sister, Ophelia! Ophelia will be earned through a drawing.
To earn entries for the drawing:
Any girl who sells 10 items for donation to "Care to Share" will receive one (1) entry to the drawing for Ophelia. 20 items = 2 entries, 100 items = 10 entries, and so on.

Ocelot Charm
|

Remember: Girl Scouts who sell 35+ nut/candy/magazine items during Fall Product will earn an Ocelot charm to go on their "Your Year of Fun" charm patch.

Girl Scout Accident Insurance Update
|
|
|
Girl Scouts is excited to announce major enhancements to our accident insurance coverage, starting Oct. 1, 2023. Basic Plan 1’s coverage is being expanded to minimize the extra cost to troops and reduce the administrative burden on adults. The following 2 scenarios are now automatically covered by Basic Plan 1:

Non-member participation. Non-member participation will be automatically covered. A non-member participant is any person invited to attend or participate in a Girl Scout approved/supervised event.

Trips longer than two overnight stays. All approved domestic trips within the USA, regardless of time duration, will be automatically covered under Basic Plan 1. There is no longer a time element involved.
After Oct. 1, 2023, the purchase of additional accident insurance will only be required for international trips. Insurance for sickness may also optionally be purchased for domestic trips.

Volunteers should continue to refer to the Safety Activity Checkpoints to determine whether or not a specific type of activity requires Council pre-approval through the Activity Approval Form. Activity Approval Forms must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the activity to allow sufficient time for review of the activity, girl to volunteer safety ratio, age levels involved, and vendor if needed.
Girl Scouts of the USA and its insurance vendor Mutual of Omaha are in the process of updating forms, guides, and Mutual’s website. GSCSA will further update its resources and website when those resources are updated.

Joyce Maienschein Leadership Grant
|
|
Cadettes, Seniors, or Ambassadors who are working on a community service, take action project, or High Award can apply for a Joyce Maienschein Leadership Grant to help make their dream a reality. Not only can the girls receive funding for up to $500, but they gain life skills like writing, budgeting, organization, and teamwork. It's a win-win!

These Gatlinburg Girl Scouts got up early one Saturday to help Keep Sevier Beautiful with their Roads & Rivers cleanup day. They cleaned up the two park bypass overlooks and then went and picked up trash from the Huskey's Grove exit to the tunnel.
