Coming Soon: Updated Permission Forms for 2024-2025

GSSI is updating permission forms for the 2024-2025 membership year to simplify troop management procedures for our volunteers. Please hold off on asking families to complete new Annual and Cookie Permission Forms.

Last Chance to Register for the Back-to-Troop Workshop!
|
Join volunteer Mandy Scurry for this free volunteer workshop on Tuesday, August 20, from 6:30 - 7:30 PM CDT at the GSSI office! Participants have the option to participate in person or virtually.
Mandy will discuss tips and tricks on investiture and re-dedication ceremonies, Founder's Day, and fall activity recommendations!
Registration closes THIS FRIDAY, August 16.

Child Protection Training: Stewards of Children
|
GSSI is partnering with Lampion Center to present Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children on Wednesday, August 28, from 5:30 - 8:30 PM CDT at the GSSI office. Participants have the option to participate in person or virtually.
This evidence-informed, award-winning training teaches adults practical actions they can take to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. We are excited to share that the cost of this training has been waived due to grant funding.
All GSSI volunteers are strongly advised to complete this training in accordance with GSSI's Policies, Standards, and Volunteer & Child Protection Guidelines.

Know2Protect Resources
|
As part of GSSI's commitment to child abuse prevention, we would like to share new resources from Know2Protect, a division of the Department of Homeland Security that aims to stop online child exploitation. The following resources are available on the Campaign Resources page under "Downloadable Resources":
•Resources2Educate, including the iGuardian Training Videos, Top 10 Tips2Protect, and Tips2Identify Fake Profiles.
•Resources2Send Home, including the Family Online Safety Agreement and Internet Safety Checklist.
•Activities for the Classroom, including the 10 Minutes2Protect activity, bingo, and coloring pages.
REMINDER - These resources are for personal use. Before covering any sensitive issue in a troop or group setting, volunteers must obtain council approval and receive written parent/guardian approval via GSSI's Sensitive Issues Permission Form.

Fire Building and Basic Outdoor Cooking
|
GSSI's Fire Building and Basic Outdoor Cooking is designed to equip volunteers with the skills to effectively utilize the Girl Scout program in an outdoor setting. This course certifies participants to conduct outdoor campfires for recreation or cooking.
GSSI is hosting two fall training opportunities:
• EVANSVILLE: Saturday, August 24, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM CDT • JASPER: Sunday, October 6, 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM EDT
Registration for the Evansville training closes THIS FRIDAY, August 16.

Trips & Travel Volunteer Workshop
|
Join volunteer Missy Jones for this free volunteer workshop on Sunday, September 22, from 2:00-3:00 PM CDT at Luzio and Associates Behavioral Services in Evansville! Missy will review the Girl Scout Travel Progression Chart and provide recommendations on girl-led planning and programming at each level, from local outings to international trips!

Register for the 2024 Fall Summit!

Join GSSI staff and volunteers for the 2024 Fall Volunteer Leadership Summit on Saturday, October 5, from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM CDT at McCutchanville Community Church in Evansville! An optional 1-hour networking will be held from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM CDT.
GSSI's annual Volunteer Leadership Summits provide a unique opportunity for Girl Scout volunteers to connect with other volunteers and staff. The 2024 Fall Summit will focus on personal leadership development, open dialogue between staff and volunteers, and new resources for troop management. Full session details are included on the registration form.
