We recently honored 135 young women who earned their Silver, Gold or Rose Award at the annual Highest Awards celebration. These outstanding young women demonstrated remarkable dedication, creativity, and leadership as they worked tirelessly to earn their Highest Award. Their commitment to making a positive impact is inspiring and serves as a powerful reminder of the difference one can make when driven by passion and purpose.
This year, 29 Girl Scouts earned their Gold Award, the highest, most prestigious award in Girl Scouting. Gold Award Girl Scouts commit a minimum of 80 hours to transform an idea and vision for change in their community into an actionable plan with measurable, sustainable, and far-reaching results.
Congratulations to all our Highest Award Girl Scouts! We are proud of their accomplishments and excited to see how they will continue to lead and innovate in the future.

Megan Heise
|
Megan Heise has been deeply involved in Girl Scouts since she and her daughters joined. She's held multiple roles, including Leader, Cookie and Fall Product Manager, New Leader Mentor, Mentor Captain, SU Fall Product Manager, and Membership Lead. Megan's efforts in organizing recruiting events helped the Golden Timbers Service Unit exceed membership goals last year. As a valued member of her Service Unit team, Megan is know for her collaborative spirit and successful event planning.
Outside of Girl Scouts, Megan is a beloved librarian at her local school. Megan and her family enjoy traveling during school breaks, as reflected by the hibiscus flower behind her ear in a vacation photo.

Calling all dreamers, creators, artists, and Girl Scouts interested in the behind-the-scenes world of stop-motion animation! Girl Scouts from GSHCC are invited to join Girl Scouts of Oregon & Southwest Washington and LAIKA Studios for a special FREE virtual event taking you behind the scenes of the stop-motion classic, Coraline! Learn about careers in animation and have your questions answered by LAIKA Costume Designer Deb Cook and LAIKA Senior Hair and Fur Fabricator Jessica Lynn, two of the women who helped bring Coraline to life. Girl Scouts working toward Maker, STEM Career, and Art badges will find inspiration as they explore the making of Coraline just in time for the film’s 15th Anniversary.
