We will be offering our annual Fall Product Program training for Service Unit volunteers next month. These trainings are ONLY for Service Unit volunteers; at least one SU volunteer from each Service Unit is encouraged to attend a training.
Once the SU volunteer training concludes, it is then up to each Service Unit Manager to organize and communicate with their troop volunteers when training will be held for all volunteers at the troop level within their Service Unit.
SU Fall Product Trainings will begin at 6:30pm and end at 7:30pm.

Annual VTK Archiving on Aug. 1
|
|
Every year, the Volunteer Toolkit (VTK) archives the current year’s information to get ready for the upcoming year. This year, the archive will happen on Aug. 1. VTK only retains 3 years of data including year plans and finance reports. If there is any information you wish to keep for this year, such as attendance or badge records, you must download before Aug. 1. On Aug. 2 you will be able to start planning your next year in Girl Scouts.
Note: Existing volunteers who have not renewed for MY2024 will lose access to VTK on Sept. 30.

NEW Council Website Coming Soon
|
|
In Oct. 2021, GSUSA debuted a brand-new website. Since Spring of 2022, other Girl Scout councils have been working on refreshing their own website to this new national template. Since Feb. of this year, GSCSA has been working diligently on updating our own website to this new look. We are scheduled to go live around Aug. 28, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on!
If you want an idea of what’s coming, have a look at a few websites of other councils who have already updated and gone live:

Juniors from a Chattanooga troop working on their Bronze Award held a Kitten Donation Drive last month at Humane Educational Society during their Kelly’s Adopt-a-thon. They baked cookies, made lemonade and button pins to sell to raise funds to purchase items needed. They are working with the Foster Kitten Program to help find kittens foster homes while making sure they have the essential items like food, baby bottles, milk, and other items needed for foster families to take them in until they can be adopted. They will continue to work with HES thru the summer to complete this project.
Share your stories and photos with us at socialmedia@girlscoutcsa.org. Please include a brief description (including date/location) of the event and/or project depicted, as well as the troop number(s).

International Storytelling Center
|
This year, the International Storytelling Center in Jonesborough, TN, is celebrating their organization’s 50th anniversary, and 20 years of Storytelling Live!, their teller-in-residence program. For this celebration, they have developed a new Storytelling patch. Girl Scouts can earn this patch on Sept.16, 2023, by attending a live storytelling performance, exploring the art of storytelling with a professional storyteller, and learning techniques for speaking with confidence.
