Girl Scouts of the Southern Appalachians
You mean everything to us!
Simply saying “Happy Volunteer Appreciation Month” doesn’t even begin to cut it. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the time, creativity, care, and dedication you bring to your Girl Scout troop and to Girl Scouting as a Movement.

Whether gathering last-minute project supplies or helping your troop find the confidence to shine, you’re making such a difference in young lives, your community, and the world at large. That’s why we’ll be sharing volunteer stories and thank-yous this April—and we’d love to put the spotlight on you! Tell us your story, then follow along as we share the most inspiring and uplifting content all month long.

Girl Scout Voices Count survey coming April 7.
You spoke. We listened. Last year, over 60,000 Girl Scouts completed our annual Girl Scout Voices Count national survey to tell us about their Girl Scout experiences. Feedback is used to make national programs more engaging, inclusive, and hands-on.

Your voice matters and makes Girl Scouting better for everyone—so we want to hear from you!

In April, we’ll be conducting our Girl Scout Voices Count national survey of Girl Scouts. The feedback you provide is so important as it helps us improve Girl Scout programs and services. The GSVC Girl Scout Survey launches on April 7. Watch your email for your invitation!

Adult Awards
Contributing to a girl's development of courage, confidence, and character is one of the many rewards associated with being a Girl Scout volunteer. Another is the honor of your contributions being recognized by your peers! Nominate a fellow volunteer for their outstanding service, and encourage girls and parents to do the same.

The nomination window for service performed in 2024 or 2025 is open until May 1, 2025.

The Appalachian Strong campaign distribution committee has decided to reopen the receiving window for Appalachian Strong fund requests, with funding requests now accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed monthly through September 2025—or until all funds have been distributed.

If your Troop or Service Unit was affected, you are eligible to submit a funding request (see button below). These funds are intended to support Girl Scout-related activities, such as replacing lost materials, (uniforms, basic supplies, camping gear, etc.) ensuring the continuation of programming for girls impacted by this disaster.

Vol Resource: How to Talk to Girls About Opioids
volunteer talking to girls
Conversations about opioid misuse can be difficult, but they are essential. Girls in our communities may have family members struggling with addiction or may face peer pressure to experiment with substances. Creating a culture of conversation—where discussions about tough topics happen openly and without judgment—helps girls feel safe coming to you for support. Not sure how to start? The Opioid & Mentoring Resource Guide offers practical tips for discussing substance misuse in an age-appropriate and supportive way.
