GSSI is updating permission forms for the 2024-2025 membership year to simplify troop management procedures for our volunteers. Please hold off on asking families to complete new Annual and Cookie Permission Forms.

Fall Service Unit Meetings
|
Service units (SUs) consist of Girl Scout members who live in the same city or county. SUs provide opportunities for volunteers to connect, share experiences, and build camaraderie through their shared commitment to the Girl Scout mission. Regardless of volunteer role, all volunteers are invited to attend SU meetings in their area. Learn more at About Girl Scout Service Units.
GSSI staff will distribute money aprons for all returning co-leaders and SU team members and spring renewal rewards during the fall SU meetings! Spring renewal items will include a list of individuals receiving rewards. Troop coupons expire on September 30, 2024.

Child Protection Guidelines and Training
|
GSSI's Child Protection Guidelines outline methods to ensure that youth participating in GSSI programming are protected from incidents of abuse. These guidelines empower staff members and volunteers to recognize, prevent, and react responsibly to all forms of child abuse and ensure that GSSI programming takes place in safe, nurturing environments that foster healthy relationship building.
To prevent child abuse, GSSI requires ALL staff and volunteers to read pages 24-30 of its Policies, Standards, Volunteer & Child Protection Guidelines.
In addition to reviewing these guidelines, all staff and volunteers providing direct services to youth must complete the online training outlined on pages 25-26 and submit THIS FORM by Thursday, October 31.
Volunteers who completed this training in 2024 and submitted the confirmation form do not need to resubmit their completion form. Volunteers who have completed child abuse prevention training through an accredited organization within the past two years and are up-to-date on the Indiana DCS reporting guidelines may upload their certificate of completion to THIS FORM to meet these requirements.

Last Chance to Register for Stewards of Children!
|
GSSI is partnering with Lampion Center to present Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children on Wednesday, August 28, from 5:30 - 8:30 PM CDT at the GSSI office. Participants have the option to participate in person or virtually.
This evidence-informed, award-winning training teaches adults practical actions they can take to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. We are excited to share that the cost of this training has been waived due to grant funding.
All GSSI volunteers are strongly advised to complete this training in accordance with GSSI's Policies, Standards, and Volunteer & Child Protection Guidelines.
Registration closes THIS FRIDAY, August 23!

Archery Instructor Certification Course in Evansville
|
The next Indiana NASP® Basic Instructor Training (BAI) certification course for southwest Indiana will be held on Wednesday, September 11, from 4:30 - 9:30 PM CDT at the Catholic Center Gym in Evansville. This course will consist of the NASP® Hybrid Training Curriculum, which includes completing two hours of online training before the in-person training. Additional information is included on the registration page.

Register for the 2024 Fall Summit
|
|
Join GSSI staff and volunteers for the 2024 Fall Volunteer Leadership Summit on Saturday, October 5, from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM CDT at McCutchanville Community Church in Evansville! An optional 1-hour networking will be held from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM CDT.
GSSI's annual Volunteer Leadership Summits provide a unique opportunity for Girl Scout volunteers to connect with other volunteers and staff. The 2024 Fall Summit will focus on personal leadership development, open dialogue between staff and volunteers, and new resources for troop management. Full session details are included on the registration form.
