Vol Resource: Understanding the Opioid Crisis in the Southern Appalachians
Southern Appalachia has been deeply affected by the opioid epidemic, with some of the highest overdose rates in the nation. As a Girl Scout volunteer, you play a critical role in supporting young girls who may be impacted by this crisis. Recognizing the signs of opioid misuse and knowing how to access resources can help you create a safe and supportive environment for your troop. The Operation Prevention Program, developed by the DEA and Discovery Education, provides valuable tools to educate youth on the dangers of opioids and prevent misuse before it starts.
