In an earlier communication to Service Unit Managers, we mentioned how receiving the Early Bird girl membership discount required a refund (handled by us) on the backend of our system. We now have found a better solution. When renewing during Early Bird (May 1-31), you must use the coupon code EARLYBIRD2024 in order to receive the correct girl membership rate.

Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians, you never cease to amaze me! The 2023 cookie season was not without its challenges, but you have overcome these obstacles with grace, humility and resilience. This is especially significant because, as we’ve all experienced, the last few Girl Scout cookie seasons have not been exactly smooth due to the pandemic, supply chain issues, and labor shortages. Despite all the hurdles, our girl entrepreneurs were a welcome sight and put smiles on the faces of the community at their cookie booths throughout the 46 counties of our Council. To all the customers who bought Girl Scout Cookies this year, you have made a profound difference in the lives of thousands of young entrepreneurs!
A heartfelt thank you goes to Dads, Moms, caregivers, troop leaders, troop cookie managers, service unit cookie cupboard managers, regional managers, and GSCSA staff...you have made it through this cookie season with a can-do attitude when faced with challenges, while keeping in mind the reason we do this – to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Volunteers, the Cookie Program would not happen without YOU and we appreciate all of your feedback, whether it was good or bad. We’re all in this together, for the girls, and we look forward to working together to make next season a success.
Girl Scouts, your eagerness to build your entrepreneurial skills makes us all so proud and we can’t wait to see the ways you use these skills to keep learning and give back to your communities.

Cookie Rewards Timeline
|
|
Cookie rewards will begin shipping from Little Brownie to Service Units the week of Apr. 24. We anticipate receiving all high level (1000+) reward items in early May. Once received and sorted, Service Unit Managers and/or Service Unit Cookie Managers will receive an email from the Product Team informing them that their rewards are ready for pick up.

Important Girl Membership Fee Update
|
|
Our girl membership fee is going up to $40 for the 2024 Membership Year. BUT renewing during Early Bird will help you save: current girl members can renew May 1-31 for $35! Simply use the coupon code EARLYBIRD2024 when renewing.
Extended year girl memberships will be $55 (membership good until Sept. 30, 2024).

Weekend Camp Reservations Update
|
|
GSCSA is making some updates to the camp property reservations process. Our goal is that a shorter timeline will lead to fewer cancellations but still allow plenty of time for planning. We understand that having to reserve a year in advance has created scheduling complications because families do not often know their life, work, and school schedules so far in advance.

Come cheer on the Atlanta Dream as they face off against the Connecticut Sun on Sun., June 11! A portion ($5) of each ticket sold through our special link will go back to GSCSA (Select Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians when purchasing your tickets). Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) Patch (all levels)
Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) has partnered with Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians to offer the Food Allergy Awareness Patch Program. This patch program is an opportunity for Girl Scouts to learn about life with food allergies, with an emphasis on raising awareness of the public health issue, which impacts 32 million children and adults in the United States. Simply complete the patch requirements and pick-up the FREE patch at one of our Council shops.

National Parks Adventure: June 2025
|
|
Zion National Park - Bryce Canyon - Grand Canyon
Travel with GSCSA staff to see some of the country's most beautiful national parks in summer 2025 (6 days). Girl Scouts will experience the beauty of the American West on this amazing trip to visit state and national parks in Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. Girls will hike through breathtaking geographic formations, take a float trip down the Colorado river, and see the stars in the desert sky.
Girl Scouts 13 years and older may participate in this trip! Girls can come with an adult or travel with GSCSA staff as their chaperone.

Hey leader! We need Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors, and adults to help us lead this summer's SuperShero Day Camp, happening July 17-21 at Camp Wildwood.
By volunteering as a DCC–Day Camp Counselor–Cadettes will earn their Program Aide (PA) award, and Seniors and Ambassadors will earn their Volunteer in Training (VIT) award. Already have the PA or VIT award? Start your journey toward a CIT I or CIT II! (Adult volunteers will have a great time and earn our undying appreciation!)

Reach for the Peaks 2023
|
|
|
Thanks to all (425 participants!) who joined us to Reach for the Peaks and celebrate Girl Scouts in March. Our third annual Reach for the Peaks was a success; we raised $6,500 to use toward Girl Scout programming. We will be mailing out patches and knapsacks in the coming weeks.

Joyce Maienschein Leadership Grant
|
|
Cadettes, Seniors, or Ambassadors who are working on a community service, take action project, or High Award can apply for a Joyce Maienschein Leadership Grant to help make their dream a reality. Not only can the girls receive funding for up to $500, but they gain life skills like writing, budgeting, organization, and teamwork. It's a win-win!

A few girls from troop 20034 visited Deane Hill Assisted Living at the request of Deane Hill. The residents really wanted some Girl Scout Cookies, and this troop was more than happy to go and make that happen! The residents really loved seeing the girls and asking them how they planned to spend their cookie money.
