Welcome to GSSI's Weekly Volunteer Update
Submit Your Nominations by February 15!
Don’t miss the chance to honor the volunteers who’ve made a difference in our local Girl Scout community! Each nomination requires 2-4 written submissions (depending on the award category) showcasing the volunteer’s exceptional impact at the troop, service unit, or council level. It only takes a few minutes to submit a nomination and honor our volunteers' remarkable contributions!

BLING YOUR BOOTH CONTEST:
Troops are encouraged to create a fun and unique cookie booth to showcase their artistic marketing skills. The top three vote-getting troops will win a gift certificate to the council shop (1st: $60, 2nd: $40, 3rd: $20). To enter, email up to 3 photos of your troop's cookie booth to hminasian@girlscouts-gssi.org by Sunday, March 9, 2025. Voting will take place from Monday, March 10 to Thursday, March 13, via an online form that will be shared on social media. Winners will be announced on Friday, March 14!

FRIDAY COOKIES FROM THE COUNCIL CUPBOARD:
If your troop is utilizing Friday Cookies through the Council Cupboard, please submit your Friday Cookie request HERE. This online form will open Mondays at 9:00 AM CST and close Wednesdays at 4:00 PM CST each week Friday Cookies are available.

Make sure to select your preferred pick-up time on the form. Pick-up will be at Shetler Warehouse (1253 Diamond Ave, Evansville, IN 47711) on Fridays, and returns come to the council office the following Monday. Upcoming Service Unit Meetings
Service units (SUs) consist of Girl Scout members who live in the same city or county. SUs provide opportunities for volunteers to connect, share experiences, and build camaraderie through their shared commitment to the Girl Scout mission. Regardless of volunteer role, all volunteers are invited to attend SU meetings in their area! Learn more at About Girl Scout Service Units.
  • North Warrick: Tuesday, February 11, 5:30 PM CST, Boonville-Warrick County Public Library (611 W Main St, Boonville)

PLUS—All volunteers who attend a February SU meeting will receive a Girl Scout Volunteer Pin!

Share Your Troop's Activities!
It's the start of 2025, which means cookie time, troop meetings, field trips, and so much more for Girl Scouts! GSSI wants to hear all about the things your Girl Scouts are doing so we can share them on our socials. So tell us about your troop's service project, the latest badge they earned, where they are donating cookies, what fun trip they're saving troop funds for, or anything Girl Scout-related. We want to know!

Send your stories and photos to Hannah in GSSI's Marketing Department at hminasian@girlscouts-gssi.org. Be sure to include your troop number and details of the activities pictured.
Note: GSSI staff and volunteers love it when troop photos are shared in the GSSI Volunteer Facebook Group, but those photos will not be used by GSSI unless they are sent to staff with explicit permission to share your troop's story.

Spotlight on Our Amazing Volunteers
We are excited to highlight and celebrate the following volunteers this week in recognition of their outstanding contributions.
  • SU Cookie Chairs and Cookie Cupboard Managers A huge thank you to these essential GSSI volunteers for their incredible efforts in ensuring a flawless cookie delivery across 11 counties! We deeply appreciate your commitment to making this process seamless and efficient, and we couldn’t have done it without you.
  • Ashley Dembinski Ashley deserves a heartfelt congratulations for her hard work in growing and supporting Troop 439. She ensured that every girl at North Daviess Elementary was invited to join this year and has provided a wide range of leadership opportunities that far exceed the expectations of a new co-leader. I can’t wait to see how Ashley will continue to shape and inspire this troop moving forward!
  • Stephanie Henning Stephanie took on the challenge of co-leading a multi-level troop this year, demonstrating incredible dedication for a first-year volunteer! In addition, she is managing cookies for her troop and fully embracing the new co-leader cohort experience. Stephanie’s commitment to supporting everyone in her troop and the other new co-leaders she's interacted with is truly inspiring!
  • Sarah Johnson Sarah always upholds a positive attitude and outlook, which is especially impressive during cookie season! She is an incredible volunteer who consistently goes above and beyond for her girls, and everyone who works with her is uplifted by her spirit and enthusiasm.
  • Angela Schneider and Vivian Taylor These Troop 32 co-leaders welcome girls from all areas, ensuring every girl has the chance to participate in Girl Scouts. They not only foster a strong sense of belonging for their troop members, but also teach them the importance of caring for their community, both locally and nationwide. Through their leadership, girls are learning the values of empathy, service, and making a positive impact.
Do you know a Girl Scout volunteer who has recently gone above and beyond in their role, and want to recognize them for their work? Submit this form, and we will include your story in one of the next weekly volunteer newsletters!
